p60, doesn't show full earnings want to claim Student Loan Payments back

I received my P60 this week, to my dismay it shows that I have earnt only 1,711 for the tax year.
I have actually earnt upwards of 10,000. I swapped jobs half way through the year.
I noticed that on my P45 from my previous employer they had copied down the incorrect National Insurance Number. I rang HMRC to notify them and they said to just wait until I got my P60 at the end of the tax year and everything should have corrected itself. It clearly hasn't!
As I went from quite a large salary to earning virtually nothing I have paid more tax than I should have for the year, I want to claim that back. I am struggling to get through to speak to someone at HMRC, is anyone else having that problem? Also I am not sure if I am ringing the correct number, I am using 02920501290.
I also want to reclaim my student loan repayments as I earned under the 15,000 threshold - has anyone any experience of how to do this? According to the Student Loan Company website you can do this, but they don't give any details as to how you go about this!!!

Hi when you started your new job did you hand in you P45?
If so they should have entered the figures as previous employment which would then show in TOTAL pay on P60 (there is a box for figures for this employment and a box for figures for previous employment) which are then added together.
HOWEVER if you were on a month 1 tax code (this will show on you p45) then previous figures cannot be used and tax wouldn't be paid back through the payroll but would have to be reclaimed from the revenue.
If you did not hand in your P45 but just signed a P46 then this would have caused the problem too as the new employer would have no figures to enter.0 -
Hi,
I did hand in my P45 but the P45 I handed in had an incorrect National Insurance number on it. My P60 did not show my total earnings.
I have all my wage slips P45s and P60 - so hopefully the HMRC will be able to handle it fairly swiftly.
Not sure how I will go about claiming back my Student Loan payments though if my P60 doesnt show my correct earnings for the year.0 -
on £10k of earnings over the year you should have paid about £700 in tax for every extra £100 you would pay £20 tax how does this tally with the p45 and p60 totaled up ?
although £10K is below minimum wage did you have a period on benefits ? I've paid the CSA off and stopped them taking payments:beer:
I'm stillowed some arrears by my ex
I was a NRP, now I'm a PWC, partner of a PWC, and parent of a PWC ( and very confused at times )0 -

You need to contact the SLC direct to arrange this.0
