Flying to Scotland - Car Hire and Volcanic Ash

Hi guys,

We are getting married in Scotland at the end of May and were going to hire a car after we flew from Stansted to Glasgow. Does anyone know if we will lose our money if the flight is cancelled and we cannot hire the car? If they are cancelled we can drive up in our own car, but I am unwilling to lose the money for 6 days car hire.

I am not very good with contract speak and it is never totally clear to me, so any advice would be much appreciated.

Or if you have any other solutions :D

Thank you

Tam x

Why not ring some of the car hire companies and ask them the question...then youve got it from the horses mouth....You could always leaveit till the day before you want the car to book it....dont think you would have any issues getting a hire car at short notice

Gave them a call and it would have to be covered under travel insurance. So need to see if my wedding insurance would cover it, if not find a travel company that does!!

Have you thought about asking the car hire company (if it is a national company) if in the circumstance of your flight being cancelled, could you change the car hire booking to run from Stanstead rather than Glasgow. That way you won't lose the money from your booking and you won't have to worry about putting all that mileage on your own car!

I have no idea if this is at all posible but you could ask.

    Oh my goodness!

That is a really good idea! We only have a smallish car and were going to hire a bigger one, and I did read the mileage is unlimited, so WOW, thanks for that!!!

I shall have another read of the T's & C's and if not call misery woman again LOL

    Thank you xxxx
