  • Can you tell me more about Primary Movements, please?

    https://www.primarymovement.org

Sorry I am not computer savvy enough to do proper links.

It is a series of slow movements that a child does every night for 10 mins, believe me it looks a bit strange at first but in my experience they help a lot.

I know we were very lucky to get a teacher at the school who had trained in this, but I also know that she did private tuition in these exercises

In fact she asked me to write a recommendation to the school governors for extra funding and I enclosed examples of Robs handwriting, before the programme started, and 2 months after. They got the funding and my son is now a peer mentor for younger kids who are doing the exercises
  • Ooh I can do links, lol

Yes, her life is more difficult and she makes stupid mistakes but when you've never known any different, its not so bad.
Absolutely. And knowing what's causing the problems makes them SO much easier to deal with.

Don't worry about it, they said my youngest son (now 24) was diagnosed dyspraxic and dyslexic at 12 and told him and us at 16 he should get a prosuction line job as that was all he may be able to do. He now has a 1st class hons in engineering design and 3d cad design and is one of only 4 people in the british isles with full qualifications in one of the leading 3d cad packages and all because we refused to believe school that he couldnt learn and a friend who had a daughter with the same took him on as an apprentice. Schools are too quick to label all the same and shove them in the corner, ignore them and find out the facts yourself.

Who told him that? Glad to hear he didn't let their bigotry get to him enough to stop him doing what he's obviously perfectly capable of.

Similar story with my sister (31)
Un-diagnosed as dyspraxic at school, not allowed to sit many of her GCSE's as illegible handwriting, so failed most, was given a laptop for A levels, got straight A's, went to Uni and was the only one in her year to finish 4 year degree in Computer Science and Aritifical Intelligence (Hons):eek::eek::eek:

DD (6) was diagnosed dyspraxic at 4, so therefore will not face the same challenges and dismissal that sis did. :D

School careers officer would you believe. Just to help, do you realise of the top 100 engineers and scientists in the british isles 82 have been diagnosed with dyslexia and 38 with dyspraxia. Remember there are 3 kinds of people in this world, those who can count and those who can't.:rotfl:
