Y reg Ford Focus problem

I have had my Focus for 4 and a half years. It was 10 months old when i bought it. It now has 72,000 miles.
Over the last 3 months or so i've noticed a really bad smell coming and going. It came again this week with all the rain. I then realised the smell was damp. I found the carpet in the passenger footwell very damp.
I can't see any obvious leaks from the windscreen / windows.

Does anyone know if this is a common problem ? Or what may be the cause ?

common problem on focus...problem is to do with the pollen filter....have a look on the forum at https://www.ffoc.co.uk..there are loads of threads about it..

Depending on how badly you want to know it may cost. Theres a £20 fee involved to access most of there forums now.
