Tesco Supermarket Prices V Tesco Express

Our local tesco express is extremly more expencive than the standard branch, anything up to about 40p more on some products.
2 things that really bug me as well, they don't stock any tesco value products and when they have offer stickers on some items like 2 for £5 for example, they remove the stickers (you can see this because they leave half of it behind.
Really irritates me.Work like you don't need money,Love like you've never been hurt,And dance like no one's watchingSave the cheerleader, save the world!0 -
it also applies to the petrol from the petrol stations, there are 2 tesco petrol stations near me, they are on either side of the town and they charge(well used to) different prices for petrol, it was in the local paper and some residents who live by tesco A found that petrol was 1-2p cheaper at tesco B which is on the other side of town and they werent happy,No Links in Signature by site rules - MSE Forum Team 20

Yeah, the one in Glasgow Central Station is 10%-15% more expensive than a normal m&s...The word is BOUGHT, not BROUGHT.
It's LOSE, NOT LOOSE.

Constantine wrote:That is not correct. Tesco operate a national pricing policy. Express stores have a seperate pricing structure, as has been mentioned due to the higher operational costs. This also applies to a small number of Metro stores where running costs are prohibative (eg London Oxford Street).
When I used to work in retail (not long ago), all the big 4 supermarkets would set pricing tariffs for each store. Stores would fall into one of 3 or 4 pricing categories which depended on competitors nearby and the socio-demographic make-up of the area.
For example, a supermarket in a run-down inner city area with a Lidl next door would come under the cheapest pricing category to remain competitive.
Another store with no competitors (or only a Waitrose!) within 5 miles would usually fall into the highest pricing category - where prices could be as much as 5-7% dearer as the store above. None of them had 1 national pricing category at the time.
Tesco Express, Metro etc are all convenience stores and are in a different category altogether and will be more expensive to cover extra costs (and add a 'convenience' surcharge). Note that some supermarket PFS (Petrol Filling Stations) also charge a sly premium over the main store for Groceries, even though they are usually only metres apart.'Money can't buy you happiness, but it does bring you a more pleasant form of misery'0 -
Tesco Metro here is the same price as the big Extra stores it only the Express store where the price is more and I think Express don't have the multi-buy offers of the other two. Don't think our M&S Simply Food is more expensive than the normal stores - if it is it is definately only on some items, it is not a blanket percentage price increase. Our simply food is one on a small retail park obviously the ones at train stations and motorway services are more expensive.0

Irritating as hell, I agree, but given that they have a limited amount of shelf space, it makes sense that they fill it with the well known brands that are a) More likely to be bought as a lot of people are brand snobs and b) more expensive.
I don't think I've ever seen a tesco express that wasn't full to the brim with cars...there's something about main supermarkets being shut that seems to inspire panic buying.
Quick! Let's find something we don't need so we can take advantage of the pure convenience of buying unecessary cack at 10pm on a Sunday night! :beer:0 -

ASDA and Sainsburys websites allow to browse for prices without registering so all stores must be priced the same, whereas with Tesco you need to give you details before access which links you up with you closest store prices.0
