I tend to get a shiny face too. My current favourite is M&S per una Long Wear Lasting Foundation £9. I am convinced this is the same formulation as another foundation Marks used to sell in their £2.50 - 3.00 range( was called All Day Foundation) which, of course, they don't sell any longer. Covers well and lasts without looking heavy. If you try it make sure you get the right colour for your skin tone as it doesn't shift!

I use L'Oreal True Match, I've been using it for years, I like how it blends in well with the colour of my skin.
But now it's time to move on... I've just bought Lily Lolo (samples), tried it once, really nice.

    I tend to use:

1/ Maybelline dream matte mousse....excellent for shiny skin but very light coverage, it still makes skin look lovely though, but re-application will be needed to shiny areas where it melts into.Cheap priced and can be difficult to get in nude colour as it is so popular.

2/ Bare escentuals.....love this stuff, you can apply several coats to get the coverage you want,it blends well, covers imperfections superbly,is good with shine, but adds a healthy glow and makes other make up apply like a dream-bit pricy but it lasts well.

3/ Max Factor lasing performance.....i got this a few months ago but am starting to really love it, coverage is excellent it covers everything and has super lasting power, it hides shine makes skin look perfect and does last.....but colour choice is poor you might have to get 2 and mix.

4/ Avon perfect wear foundation........i have always had a fond spot for this foundation, this one sticks like glue to your skin but doesn't feel like it.You will still have this foundation on 16-24 hours after application. No shine whilst wearing, blends into skin and makes you look flawless.Bit hard to get off, you will need a tough make up remover. Excellent price when you buy as part of a bogof or 2 for £10 etc....

Can't think of anymore i really like, i tend to buy new ones that are out but mostly they are rubbish lol.

    Loreal true match atm,
my mate has a perfect one I love - maybelline superstay silky (yet I can never find the colour I want!), but don't get dream liquid erghhh it is clumpy and you can see it sitting there really obviously like orange peel!
I tend to just use a tiny bit of that to cover up any awful red spot things and then blend around it with loreal.

Saving for a year in Japan.
I need around £10,000. Help me get there!

I'm using No7 Lift & Luminate SPF15 in Alabaster. It costs £15 but there are always offers on. I'm really pale (Mac NC15) and Alabaster is a good match for me. It has decent coverage but I need heavy coverage so I add a little Molton Brown powder foundation where needed.

Ive recently changed from clinique to Boots No. 7 lift and luminate. The clinique formed a sort of "mask" on my face, didnt like it. Boots gives a healthy glow.

I wear clinique repairwear - and LOVE it. If I'm a bit skint I usually go for maybelline or No7 which are pretty good, but when I go back to clinique I remember why I like it so much. Hethmar is right to a certain extent that it is quite thick and does act like a mask on the face if you use too much or have the wrong colour. But I really love that coverage, I have very uneven skin tone with red blotchy skin and it covers so easy, making my face look flawless :). It even disguises my moles and freckles. I do avoid it, or use it very lightly around the eye area as it can sit in the lines if you use too much. I also like the fact that it still looks good by teatime. With my other foundations I have to touch up in the afternoon. So technically I'm moneysaving buying Clinique foundation  well thats what I tell my OH anyway.

I really like Clinique superbalanced foundation (I've recently tested a few others, but gone back to this - didn't find anything else anywhere near as good), but don't get on with the other Clinique varieties.

I've found this with other big companies too.

I have found though that in department stores most of the big counters are really good at giving advice. I'd recommend going round a few, asking for what they'd recommend for your skin in their range, and get them to apply it. You can also ask for small free samples to take away to try over a few days - most will happily do that.

Ignore any sales patter and be firm that you need to know that the foundation will last several hours/all day, and what it looks like in daylight (rather than indoors) - have it applied, walk away, and just try them while shopping for a few hours/ normal life for rest of the day etc. This way you can easily test quite a few options, get good advice from trained counters workers, and have more confidence that what you end up with is right for you.
