What kind of budget do you have?

    How much room/space?

Life Fitness is the ideal purchase, you will see them in most gyms - second hand from ebay - however they are bulky

oohh yes just googled them, little too pricey for me, was looking hopefully somewhere around the £200 mark. i was looking at the Orbus XT501 'Touch Screen' Elliptical http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170421386127&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT but hubby wants something a bit more manly. a bit like this, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180455661908&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

    what do you think please

I would make this person an offer - its worth paying for quality in this case the cheaper models do not have the fluidity of movement

Hello. Crosstrainer's are very dear to my heart at the minute! I bought one off Argos at £99.99 in May last year. It broke in the August - I used it every night for 45 minutes until then and lost two stone! They are fantastic. Argos send me a replacment. It failed last month. So decided to pick a different one at £129.99 but this time buy replacement product cover for £25 which means they replace it automatically within 3 years if it develops a fault.

Not sure how the onesI use compare to the ones at a gym, but I would give Argos a go.

They are affordable and you get really good results in a short period of time. I think they are the beez kneez when it comes to weight loss/fitness. Let me know what you decide! :)

If its any help I tested out a few gyms earlier this year. The machines were top of the list as I do about 90% of my workouts on the machines, 30% of that on the elliptical trainer/cross trainer so they are very important to me.

It just amazed me at how much variation there can be- some machines have a deeper step then others, some I could not move fast on as they felt wobbly, some gave me cramp as I used them as they moved along a flat plane rather then up and down....its really worth testing them out first. If I were getting one I'd either make sure I had tested it first or had a money back guarentee if it was not working out for me.

I totally agree with jeniiewb`s post above. You really do need to try out a cross trainer as the motion which suits one person may be uncomfortable for another.

I have a Kettler which cost around £500. Over your budget but the quality is superb and I am sure I have have it for many years.

I bought a second-hand one for £30. It is Olympus sport and is fab. I use it a bit for a small workout but hubby uses it on full power and is impressed. Would definately recommendthe make but this would not be a new model that i have.

Hi i have just purchased a second hand Reebok premier cross trainer (REO-10211)from a private seller and it is amazing:).
It cost me £150 and was an absolute bargain(i think they are about £500 new),it has all the basic functions as well as 8 pre programmed training levels on.
Just saw that there are 3 for sale on ebay this week, have a look, you wont be dissapointed!!!!!!!
