Something special in London

My mum and I are going to London in December. I have been patiently checking the Ritz hotel site since March waiting for the December bookings to become available so I could book us in for "Tea at the Ritz". I even emailed them to ask when they would be releasing the dates and they said very soon and to keep checking, which I did. So I was gutted to discover I was too late when I logged on mid morning on the day that I assume the dates were released because it was all booked up.
Anyway, I would still like to treat my mum to something a bit special and different when we go down, she goes to west end shows and concerts and I was looking for something unique like the Ritz.
What would people suggest.
Many thanks

I think tea at Fortnum & Masons is nicer than the Ritz ...

How about a flight on the London Eye?0

I took my mother in law for afternoon tea at Claridges - it was absolutely fantastic and much better than the Ritz x

Everyone is scared of someone or something, everyone loves someone or something, and everyone has lost someone or something! BE NICE!0 -
Thank you all. We have done the eye Pink (I dont like heights so its rather tense for me to repeat it!! LOL).
Have looked at Claridges and off to look at Fortnum & Mason.

How about the Dorchester? I think it's supposed to be on par with the Ritz and they do a champagne afternoon tea which sounds lovely.0
