    Hi Infra,
I'm in the same position too. Had washer/dryers years ago & had endless problems but always had cheap brands. Since then always bought seperates and the basic Bosch washers have been ab fab. Unfortunately have left them behind with the Ex's.
As I'm in the position of buying a small house on my own now, I can only accomodate a combined unit in my small kitchen. I've been reading Which Mag & they say that the machines have become very reliable in recent years, especially the AEG & Bosch products. The AEG L12830 & Bosch 1260 can be had for about £400. Next up is the AEG L16830 & Bosch 126S for around £470. I think the AEG's have the edge as the cheaper one has a 6kg wash 3Kg drying capacity & the other is 7kg/3.5Kg where as the bosch's are only 5kg/2.5kg. One advantage with the bosch is the std 2 year warranty on registration, that has to be worth £100 & I do like bosch stuff. To be honest in recent years I have been using the washing line for drying as I think clothes tend to shrink in dryers and they do smell fresher off the line but you can't rely on our weather. I am leaning towards the cheaper bosch for warranty reasons would be interested if anybody has bought any of the above models. Let me know what you buy!!!

I've got the AEG 6830 and am very happy with it. When I bought it the cheapest place was Boots.com, but I got it from the local independant shop (sadly they couldn't afford to price-match, but they met me halfway!). This local shop also do appliance rentals, and this is the only washer-dryer they rent out - apparently it (and its older AEG brother) are very reliable, so thats why they use it...means they arent constantly being called out to do repairs
  • Creda was the cheapest brand I was familiar with when I bought mine. Currently about £215 for the updated version of the one I've got. (Just look for the low end model) Had it 8 years still going strong

Well just got a AEG L16830 off ebay, been watching for a few days & was very local to me only 3 months old, only been used a few times & with remainder of 2 year warranty. Cost me £330 and had loads of interest but still a bargain in my opinon.

Further to the above looks like the warranty isn't transferable,(it should be) fortunately not hit the pay button. Made a few phone calls this morning. So the advert is incorrect stating it had a warranty. emailed the seller so waiting for a response.

Bought a Hotpoint Aquarius WD865 (supposedly the top of the range one), Bloody rubbish.

Dosent clean well, takes 3 hours on the dryer! and is rubbish at removing hair etc, Also im starting to see occurances of tiny nicks in the clothes

On the hair subject im sure im not the only one who gets their hair cut at home, any other washer we had never left a trace of hair on clothes...this leaves them plastered ! ive run it through a long cycle empty cleaned out the seal and there is still hair on all the clothes
