Hello, some advice would be very much appreciated. Should I soak anemone corms before planting and if so for how long? Have tried planting some in the past and had little success and am wondering how to increase my chances. Thanks in advance for any advide.

Yes, you can soak them for between 1 to 2 hours in lukewarm water. The advantage of soaking them is that you can then see the little knobbly bits that are the growing tips - and you can then plant them the right way up!
But it's not really necessary. Anemones seem to throw up shoots even when I've planted them upside down. As soon as they are put into the ground and well watered in, then they will fill out.
If you haven't had much success before then try this:
Dig a hole for the corm, about 6 inches (10 cm) deep. Fill bottom two inches with humus (things like compost, rotted manure, decaying leaves). Cover the humus with a small layer of soil and plant your corm about 2-3 inches below the surface. Before you replace the soil on top of the corm, mix in a couple of handfuls of sand.
The sand will improve drainage and the humus will encourage good strong roots.
Also try planting them in shade instead of sun - they don't seem to mind being under trees or bushes.
Hope that helps.0 -
Thanks for this tip, I stuck some dry corms in a pot and many weeks later I thought I'd not got a bean (although I was surprised to see actually 2 had come up!!!), going soak them and retry.Ahhhh.... lemony fresh victory is mineee!!!0
