Halifax £50 Switching Offer

I've had a mailing today offering me £50 if I switch to them; probably as I hold a credit card with them.

I was thinking about opening one to earn the £5pm just by shunting my own money around and this is probably the clincher.

The conditions seem simple enough, activate the account with £100 credit by 24th June and use the switching service.

Here lies my problem, I work in a bank and cannot nor do I wish to switch my main banking though I do hold another current account with a third bank, HSBC.

'The payment of £50 will be paid directly to your Halifax Reward Current Account within 6 weeks of the Halifax Switching Team receiving your completed instruction form and you crediting your account with £100 whichever is the latter'

What happens when nothing can be switched from the HSBC account given it's purely used for gambling, Quidco etc?

As there's no specific clause to state that the switching must involve a certain number of d/d's how should I play it?

    It was specific to me.

I asked them and they said it didn't matter what was or wasn't transferred as long as the switching paperwork was completed.

With these offers I set up two standing orders (to my savings accounts) on the 'donor' current account.

You can even post date your standing orders if you don't want to pay it from either account.

Also, if DDs are essential, as they are with A&L, I move a direct debit on a dormant credit card to the 'donor' account.

I called Halifax and they said that this offer is only available when you applied and switched the current account at the same time.
