Halfords - Shop Price vs Internet price

Hello there,
We're after a little bit of advice......
My partner and I bought a bike from Halfords at the weekend
halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/SearchCmd?srch=xc+1&action=search&storeId=10001&catalogId=10151&langId=-1
We paid the shop price of £629.99 - It wasnt until we came home - browsing through the internet and saw they sell the exact same bike, online for £503.99 - I feel sick just thinking about how much extra we've paid!
Where do we stand? can we ask for the difference back - they're price promise? I just want a little bit of information really before I decide to give them a call.
I have found their price promise guarantee on their website and it says
"Price Promise If you can buy the same product cheaper, within seven days and 20 miles of the store, Halfords will match the price. Even against trade outlets! Please ask in your local Halfords store for details of terms and conditions. Excludes online and catalogue order"
Does this exclude their own online prices? I think its disgusting a high street retailer having an online price, and a store price that differs so much!
Any info or guidance on how to approach this is much appreciated.

Their price promise T&C's clearly exclude online purchases so obviously not.
Have you checked your receipt. What is the returns policy at Halfords and would your purchase come under it? Have you used the bike yet? Assembled it?
Obviously this is your own fault for not shopping around and Halfords are not to blame at all here, they set the in store prices and you either agree (buy it) or disagree (don't buy it), they aren't responsible for making sure you get the best deal, you are!0 -

Why ? Both prices are well advertised. They obviously wish to keep their store financial figures separate from their on line ones. On line costs are a lot less than shop prices, hence the lower prices.0 -
I agree with the above. Its quite clear they dont include online, you can see why! theyre perfectly entitled to charge what they want, when they want, where they want.
In future shop around but for the mean time, ASK! only halfrauds can tell you yes or no.Back by no demand whatsoever.0 -

I bought a bike carrier from Halfrauds this week, reserved it online from my smartphone outside the shop and saved another 10% walked into the shop and paid for it, very efficient and was as cheap as I had seen it anywhere on line.
Nothing to to with your bike though. Shops can charge what they want or offer promotions to promote the online side of things they have done nothing wrong.0 -
What irritates me is when a shop offers a buy online, collect instore service, but won't honour the price unless you go through with the online part.
I was once told I had to pay £450 instead of £369 for a laptop in PC World.
I took out a 3G card, logged into the display laptop (it's always the store number as the password, which is on the till display), connected to the internet, ordered the same laptop, and then asked the assistant to go and collect it.0 -

One of PC Worlds assistants told me that the printer I wanted was cheaper online and he stood there while I called my son at home and had him reserve it0
