2001 renault scenic for £1650, is that about right?
right after my last thread about a vauxhall zafirra, i have decided to take peoples advice, and walk away from any potential deal, so today i came across a 2001 renault scenic £1650, it is 1.6 petrol and it has done just over 100,000 miles, does have service history and comes with 7 months mot, car is in lovely condition, inside is in pristine condition, and the outside has hardly got a blemish on it, and got 4 brand new tyres on it, so not bad for a 9 year old car, so just really looking for peoples advice as to whether you think the price is about right, and if it is, does anybody have any experiance of scenics, is there any known problems i should know about before i go ahead and purchase, took the car out for a test drive today and it drives like a dream, just want to make sure i am getting a pretty decent offer, as this is quite a bit more than we wanted to pay, but feel it is worth the extra for its condition, any help or advice greatly appreciated
TIA
TIA
Take every day as it comes!!

I would have thought closer to £1200 personally, But only you can decide if its worth it.
I looked at a lot of cars last year, Some i thought overpriced but they sold others i wouldnt have bought for half the price, Some sold some are still for sale. That was 5 months ago.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

yeah price is more than we wanted to pay, more than we got really, but looking on ebay the chepest people seem to be asking for in the classified ads is the same as what this car is up for, and most of them are asking for around the £2500 mark:eek:, for the same year and model, so i guess the price is about right, mind you the dealer did not know it had a 6 disk cd changer under the passenger seat, sure he would have a bit more on top if he had of realised before i told him:D

Wouldn't touch it - a couple of years older with that mileage and it'd be worth less than a grand.
Look for something a bit more solid than an old Megane at this money (Focus, Astra, Almera)
(EDIT - didn't read the first post properly - didn't notice it was a Scenic you were talking about for some reason, lol)0 -
My dad just part changed his high mileage 53(actually brought in 04) scenic 1.8 16v for about £2500
For reference sake.0 -

Oops
Just noticed this thread is about a Scenic not a Megane...... no idea why I missed that :rotfl:0 -
ensure the cam belts been replaced
ariel can leak around the base
ignition coils pack up very often though only £25 each
gearboxes can be weak0 -

as somech says check when the cam belts, pulleys, water pump were last changed and when they are next due to be done as it's a costly job.
also agree about the ignition coils, I have a clio and a scenic and have changed 6 coils so far  , recently bought 4 more to change the other 2 and keep 2 as spares.
From what you say about the car why not offer 1500, highly recommend scenics for the high driving position and the all the space if you have kids.0 -

would not budge on price:(, but went ahead with purchase, i did check with parkers and with this being the expression + model it was saying at a dealer it is worth £2025, with slightly less mileage, so made a bit of a saving i suppose, least we are mobile again:jTake every day as it comes!!0
