Strawberries need to be pollinated, so unless you're thinking of inviting some bees into the house you won't get any fruit I'm afraid.

You're welcome. :) I forgot to add that they also need a period of cold in order to fruit so they can't even be kept in a greenhouse year-round.

I saw the light at the end of the tunnel after i had put some brackets up & planted strawberries in hanging baskets. They need pollenating, who/what will do that in there.

    Oops. Planted tomatoes instead.

Well the original point of my question was when i eventually move into a flat i wanted to know if i can still grow them thats all. However i may end up with a property with a veranda so could grow them there, and if not will grow them in a window basket and pick them like that, that should be ok id have thought?

Could you put some troughs under your window (I guess it will depend on the building). If you have even a tiniest balcony, you could hang them on the railings and grow your strawberries there.

Or you could "play a bee" and pollinate them by hand (well Q-tip or small brush).
