My view on this is that once holiday is approved it becomes contractual and requires mutual agreement to change.
Obviously some negotiation will be needed to accomodate all parties.
Can the op date be changed?
How urgent is it?
How long will they be off for?
Other options for your trip perhaps the company will cover costs
What is the current policy if the other person goes sick when you are on holiday?0 -

Have you got a link for that because I would take it that a holiday is part of the overall contract and as such if it is in the company handbook that they can take it back if required for business reasons then they would have no problem doing that
However if I am wrong it would be good to know.
Not sure I can, but will start looking.
There is the 2*(request) 1*(approval) rule.
I think these are statutory.
Once approved(even if longer notice) I think that becomes contractual, so the company has to meet the cost of expecting you to actualy work even if in the hand book.
A unilatural, we can withdraw approved holiday at any time would be unfair if the company wants to reserve it right to refuse it can just wait till 1* to approve/not approve.0 -

Why is he taking holiday? this should be sick if unfit for work.0 -
The only reason for that guy to take holiday instead of sick pay is if he wants full pay rather than statutory.
i spoke to a shopsterard who i know and he said that if they have granted my holiday they can only ask me to work not tell me
so looks like i will be off afterall :beer:0 -

Have a read on this, it does look like they could force you not to take the holiday as long they reimburse you any expenses occured
update spoke to management today she said that she could cancell holiday if she gave me a weeks notice but as i stop on monday she can only ask me i told her i had things to do regarding wedding in july and that i had to take the holiday she said elephants dont forget (threat)
so im off
she told the other guy that if he went ahead with hospital appointment he was terminating his contract aye right i told him to phone accas they said if he was not off sick a lot then theres nothing they can do
so hes going ahead with appointment
think its time to look for another job0
