NLA tenant check. You can do basic credit check or full check where they check references and employment details. You dont have to join the NLA, but get cheaper rates on the checks if you are a member.:jProud mummy to a beautiful baby girl born 22/12/11 :j0

I always ask to see a tenant's last 3 months bank statements & the last 3 payslips. Very helpful. Landlord Action have a helpline where you can check your potential tenant hasn't been previously blacklisted for not paying rent.0

Really? And what is it that you think you can glean from a nosey at the potential T's bank statements? If Ts are already submitting to a credit check ( & paying for it too) they shouldn't need to show you their bank statements.
A quick check shows whether a person is receiving a monthly income as they claim or in truth is on housing benefit. It also shows what rent they are paying (if they pay by standing order) and whether they are heavily in debt or not. It also confirms their current address.
Most people are honest but there is always the odd one. Stick to whatever works for you.0 -

A landlord could assess the situation for himself for a borderline tenant.0 -
