Hi all
Wonder if you can help me out
i have recently moved in to an appartment with my girlfriend, neither of us have ever used E7 before infact have never heard of it before, sorry,
everthing is electric and i cant get my head around these heaters, they have 2 sockets both with switches but one has a plug and the other hasnt, do they both need to be switched on? There are also 2 knobs one saying direct and the other saying stored, when do i use which knob?
i have also found like a switch under my boiler with a dial, do i need to do anything to it or just leave it as it is?
Or would anyone know where i could i get a user manual for it?
Help help help,
I am so sorry for my lack of knowledge but i grew up with central heating
Any advise would be greatfully appreciated.
Andi

Basically with E7 you are charged at two different rates for each kWh used. The cheaper night rate will be for seven hours during the night i.e. 1:00AM to 8:00AM but the actual times do vary. The daily rate is for the other seventeen hours of the day.

I would say that the wired in connection will be to the E7 circuit and this will be the stored heat and the direct will be to give more heat if required during the day but this will be at the expensive rate!

Don't know what you mean by boiler, unless you mean a switch for an immersion heater for your hot water supply. This should also be used during the cheap night rate.

Your best bet would be to find a make/model number and then just Google and see what you can find. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
I've recently bought a flat with Econ 7 and it takes a bit of time.
The main supply meter has a radio switch that turns on the Econ 7 circuits from 11.30pm ish to 7.30am ish. At the same time any normal items also benefit from reduced rates.
In my flat the heaters and immersion heater are wired on a seperate distribution unit that is Econ 7 and only on at night. The immersion heater also has a regular heater for daytime top up and there are wall heaters on the normal mains. The main Econ 7 heaters have two wires: econ 7 and daytime top up.
The Econ 7 heaters have two knobs normally. A charge knob which controls how much heat is stored over night and a release knobt that controls rate of release. They also have top up switches or knobs depending on design.Happy chappy0
