Currys whatever happens insurance

Was wondering if anyone knows how it works, basically took it out 4 years ago on a washing machine, darn thing has had numerous repairs and repairman came out today and said it was not viable to repair it again so he would be pressing them to write it off. Ive had a look on currys website ( I have a hoover 7.5 kg 1600rpm AAA rated machine ) and cant find a machine that matches mine for under about £490 only thing is when i bought mine my receipt says £299.99 ( cant even get a 8kg machine for that at currys ) wondering how i stand with this and what they have to offer me. Seems a like for like would be £489.99 but dont see them offering that.
Any advice appreciated

What happens if you can't fix my product?

If your product is beyond repair, or we can't get the necessary parts and do the repair within 28 days we'll replace it.

what the replace it with is another matter, probably a refurb machine
remember they dont pay full price for stock

They will value you your item and in all probability under value it but WEH terms are LIKE-FOR-LIKE. So you have every right to demand extra vouchers (thats how you get a new on, they post vouchers to buy in-store). I managed to get my £800 laptop written off and got a £1200 laptop on WEH:D
    Back by no demand whatsoever.

Thanks for the replies, I was a bit worried i would end up out of pocket if they only sent me the £300 i paid for the old machine so hopefully i will get a decent amount. Do they just send you the vouvhers out or do they get in touch with an offer first to say how much they are giving?

You'll get given a voucher for a replacement of equivalent spec. And if there's something about the 'suggested replacement' that isn't up to scratch (e.g. inferior brand, slower spin) the branch can get the voucher amount increased so that you will get like-for-like.

If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

Just thought id update you guys on this, got offered a hotpoint washing machine in my letter from whatever happens for the value of £379.99 so i popped in the shop and pointed out i owned a hoover not a hotpoint and the nearest model to mine was £489.99, the manager agreed and without even phoning whatever happens changed my voucher to £489.99 on top of that whatever happens gave me £36 refund for the remaing year on the policy. In the end i bought a new policy for 5 years for £239 (got the £36 taken off that) and said to the manager the amount of washing we do we would more than likely wear the new one out in 4 years, he laughed and said it was fine with him. All in all think the original policy i purchased for £159 4 years ago has been brilliant, they have been out to my machine loads for various things including a new drum to coins the kids had left in clothes that had blocked the inside of the machine. Thank you currys :D
