Probate query re tax office

Hello - my first post on this forum and I've no idea where to post it, apologies if its in the wrong section.
I am in the process of being granted probate for my late father. He was over pension age but was working (cash in hand). On his death, I have discovered that he hasn't claimed any pension, which I'm looking into, but also that he didn't pay any tax on his cash in hand self emoployed earnings (I believe them to be over the tax threshold). There is no paperwork at all.
I need to contact the local tax office to inform them of this. However, I don't know which is the correct tax office to approach, as there seem to be different ones depending on what tax issue you need to discuss. He lived at the other end of the country to me, and I am disabled, so I want to deal with my local tax office, not his. When I've googled it, mine seems to be a "tax recovery centre" - I'm unclear what this is.
Any advice, much appreciated.

If there is absolutely no paperwork, how do you expect to calculate his cash in hand income?0

The person he worked for has told me roughly how much he was earning, but he was supposed to declare it himself. Goodness knows how the tax office will calculate it! But as I've found an unclaimed private pension, so there is a little capital in his estate, I need to inform the tax office.0

Did the person he was working for pay him without an invoice? If so, I should imagine his own tax issues may be slightly questionable.0

He was selling door to door with somone like betterware or kleeneze. (I'd rather not go into too much detail, I don't want to get anyone into trouble). So he was getting paid, keeping his portion, then passing the rest of the money on. Their system, as I understand it, is that the seller is responsible for their own tax returns. I now realise he just didn't keep any records of anything; he didn't claim state pension or anything, he just got his money in cash and that was all there was to it - simple life, in a way! So I just need some advice on how I find the address of the most relevant tax office, geographically closest to me.
Thanks again0 -
Sorry for your loss.
I would simply phone your nearest tax office, and ask for their advice. You may be able to deal with your local office, or they may refer you to the 'right' office for your dad, I don't know. But they are generally helpful - and after all, it's not YOUR fault your dad's affairs weren't in order.Signature removed for peace of mind0
