Right - phone call from the garage.
Apparently it wasn't oil leaking - but antifreeze. There's a weenie hole in the radiator so it will need replacing some time this year.
In the meantime the damage is £14.69 for some Stop Leak. Family Allowance came in this morning so I guess that I will be able to get my car back - please, a prayer to any DFW God's out there. Go and pick on someone else for a wee while and let my blood pressure come back to normal.
Do I count this against my £100 Challenge money or not??

Glad it wasn't expensive - I did notice it was still in the forecourt so didn't know if that was good or bad.
Do you need a lift in to pick it up?Debts 07/12/2021

Thanks for the offer - but my Dad brought it over - he's gone to play golf so my Mum's here playing with the baby until she's got to pick him up.
Thought I'd got off lightly until I realised they have driven the car nearly 70 miles today on "test drives" so I had no petrol when I got it back. Another £20 I don't have to keep the car going on the school run this week!!!!
Grrrrr!!!!!!
Never mind, it is now back with me so fingers crossed for worry free motoring.
Tea is pasta and "fresh tomato sauce" which is 2 very ripe tomatoes, 1 garlic clove and a glug of olive oil blended up and stirred into hot pasta.
Served with a sprinkle of black pepper and a shaving of parmesan to make it look a bit "cheffy" :rotfl:. Also got a mixed salad for some of those 5 a days.
Still its one of DS favourites so no complaining and from the stores so no additional spendies either (like I haven't had to spend enough today)
Heads down for kiddie credits on Friday - LOL

Right - enough of the car dramas!!!!!!
I've sorted out my stash of knitting wool - collected from friends of friends, grannies of friends, freecyle and car boot adventures. Everything is now stacked in the cupboard in my guest room so that I can see what I'm working with.
I've even found my bag of knitting pins - and tonight I'm casting on a baby blue chunky slouchy neck sweater for the baby - well a couple of sizes up if truth be told. Time to turn this stash into clothing to save me cash in the future.
I've also turned up a pile of fabric pieces - old duvet covers n stuff. Think Shabby Chic Patchwork stuff. So here's the plan. Between now and Christmas I make as much craft stuff as I can from what I have and give it to my Mum. Mum is going to book a few "party-plan" parties amongst her group of Glam Grannies. She is retired and what she sells will be below her tax threshold - but she will hopefully make some pennies to treat the boys to a nice Christmas - maybe a panto or a show and some pressies.
I could just cut out the middle man and make the boys their Christmas - but the fabric stash is pretty much all pink and flowery so I may not get a great deal of thanks.
Let the "Make Do and Mending" commence.

So Clootiesmum - we're dying to know. Did you stovies work out all right??
Got on like a rocket last night - got the back, front and 1 1/2 arms of the chunky sweater knitted up. OK so I parked myself down in front of "THe Hairy Bikers and ended up watching the Ch4 film - via a hilarious TOTP2 that was all about the 80's. Lordy but it seems sooooooo tame now - even Frankie Says failed to shock :rotfl:
Must be getting old:D
I am going to bite the bullet and finish the second arm by sitting down after the school run and dong it - then I'm going to block my pieces and sew them up (usuallyit takes months for me to do the final stage) - but I'm going to develop a new habit of finishing one project before starting another.
Inspired by the hairy bikers breakfast for the next five days is a special treat of Khichri and poached egg.
KHICHRI
Soak 300g basmatii rice and 100g yellow split peas overnight in plenty of cold water.
Drain in the morning and rinse until the water runs clear, then drain well.
Put 4 cloves
4 cardamon pods
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp tumeric
1/4 tsp dried chilli in a pan with a close fitting lid. Cover with 1/2 cup of water and bring to the boil.
Pour the cleaned rice into the pan and just cover with boiling water - bring back to the boil and turn down tothe barest simmer -pop on the lid.
Leave for 10 minutes then check if the rice is tender. Turn off the heat and allow the rice to continue to cook in its own steam.
When the rice is nice and dry bring another pan of water to a simmer and softly poach an egg.
Serve 1/5th of the mixture in a bowl and top with the poached egg - a sprinkle of fresh coriander and chilli is also yummy and definitely wakes up your taste buds in the morning.
Eat with a soup spoon so that you can break the egg and let it dribble through the rice giving you fragrant spoonfulls of eggy lovlieness.
The rice costs 45 p or 9p per portion - the egg another 9.6p on top. So 18.6p for an Indian style breakfast.
Let the rice cool in the pan then spoon into plastic bags (or chinese carryout dishes) and freeze. (Makes keeping rice hanging around for a few days safer - although Indian friends says that the tumeric prevents any nasties from growing.)
You then can pop one portion into the microwave for a couple of minutes whilst you poach an egg in the morning -easy peasy.
AND ITS FREE ON SW GREEN!!! Yup!!! I've decided that the last stone of baby fat has to go. Seeing as we are on a bargain basement budget SW Green Days are going to have to be the way to go. I can't afford to go to the meetings however so I've dug out my books and going to knuckle down and try it on my own.
I will keep you posted - off to add another line to my signature.FINALLY AND OFFICIALLY DEBT FREESmall Emergency Fund £500 / £500
