    Good morning :D

Good luck this afternoon MG and Teapot :)

Well I woke up this morning to a sparkling house :), I was lovely :), all i've had to do is empty the dishwasher that dh sorted before he went to bed last night :), sweep and wash the kitchen floor school dinners were done too :)

Just waiting for floor to dry and washing machine to finish (already got a pair of curtains on the line.) So I'm having my breakfast.

I've put my foot down with the boys too, i've been asking them for weeks to clear their bedrooms and its not being done, (they are bringing washing down but everything else is being left) so they were told if their bedrooms wern't done by 10pm last night they were grounded for a week. Bedrooms arn't done so they were told this morning don't make plans your grounded :( am I being too harsh?

My goal today it to sort out my bedroom (can't expect the kids to do theirs if mines a mess) change beds and start ploughing through the boxes again. need to find the wire cutters.

You are not being harsh... you are showing you mean business. You have to follow through with the threats of punishment, otherwise they think they can get away with it. (you may wish to disregard this... on the basis that I have never bought up children. Only cats. :rotfl:!)

  • :j:jMY SUIT FITS PERFECTLY:j:j

which is pretty darn amazing because i am still a good two stone off target weight - mind you it is a fourteen.

its a blue fleck from "NEXT" with a curvy fitted jacket - traditional but quite quirky. undereneath i have a brigtly patterned top which looks great should i take the jacket off - and is a softer look for having high tea.

cute shoes and bag sorted - pretty earings and cleaned watch strap on the watch. tidy french manicure on the mitts. contact lenses in (so glasses off)

over the top a full length fitted navy wool coat with a velvet collar.

total for ensemble £18 - which means i have like pennies left in my £100 wardrobe challenge.

now i just need to keep busy this morning until its time to get ready....................................... so i think i know what to do that will get me in the zone.

CALLING ALL YOU PHD STUDENTS OR PEEPS THAT WORK WITH THEM.

What are the top five challenges people have when working towards completing their PHD's????

i am compiling an "offering" for the universities regarding doing work with PHD and MBa students and i want to make sure what i am presenting is exactly tailored to hit all their "hot spots" iyswim.

i need to make them an irresistable offer - one that when it lands on their desk they immediately shout "quick grab the phone we must book her!!!!!"

    ................. and i think i won'thave another cup of coffee - eh!!!:D

thanks for all your kind words and wishes peeps - i wonder if he will read this beofre i meet him?

Bet he does, he's probably got the email alert and also he's in the right time zone now... Morning MG and Mr Big, this is going to be a ground-breaking day for you both, I'm sure you're both up to the challenge :):)

I'm feeling all glowy as I just answered a question about potatoes in water that someone asked on the OS board, applying my first biology lesson! Overnight I've emailed my homework to the lovely Troglydyte and have thought of other/maybe better ways to add some more info in to show what I've learned, wonder if its okay to submit 'war and peace' for a tiny experiment?!? :)

  • Top 5 things that PHD Students have trouble with...(from some of my budget managers)

    1. Getting sidetracked onto research that is not pertinent to their thesis
    2. Time management, if they are combining it with part time lecturing or work.
    3. Keeping their interest in the subject fresh - what was interesting to them when they began may be dull and tedious when they are half way along the road
    4. Managing their slim resources, even if they are working part time
    5. How to research properly (although to be fair, most of them should have taken a research methods course already!)

    Hope that helps.

I started an MBA (before "life" took over) and my biggest problem, as the mother of a 5 year old and a 6 year old at the time, and who was also working full time, was the simple one of time management.

This was closely followed by support and self motivation - I did it by distance learning so I didn't have the encouragement of lecturers and classmates. I didn't appreciate the amount of help available from online support groups as I didn't have the confidence at that time to join and pitch in. I was probably doing it for the wrong reasons too, trying to prove myself to others instead of doing it for myself.

I can't give you three other problems because I had given up before they had chance to develop :rotfl:
