Seagrass flooring

Options
Hi all, does anyone have seagrass flooring? We are thinking of getting this for our home but, have a few questions. Is it hard wearing being the main one. My husband is concerned about spillages are they easily cleaned or are they likely to damage the seagrass? Any info from anyone who has this type of flooring would be a great help.
Many thanks Jacqui

Slightly OT, but although I like the look of this flooring I'd never have it as I find it very uncomfortable underfoot. Do you ever walk around with nothing on you feet at home, because if you do you should check you're happy with how it feels before spending money!

I've got some courtesy of the landlord with no taste, it's really hardwearing but a particularly thick and rough type, not the thin mats you tend to see in most of the adverts so i'm not sure how that would cope.

Is really uncomfortable too, though again that's because it's so thick it's almost made of ropes!

Seagrass is good, spillages are not too bad if tackeled quickly, and the day to day dust is easier to get out. Much softer underfoot than coir, which is a different beast all together. Sisal is also good. Am just about to order seagrass for the whole house with a sisal runner for the stairs, as seagrass is no good on stairs. Seagrass costs more to lay as its much harder than carpet, and you need to use a double stick underlay process, unless gluing it directly to the floor. HTH
(I have previously had seagrass, coir etc)

Think that will be coir, not seagrass, and how rude no taste, its laid in National Trust houses etc, dont you mean different taste to your own :D

Pawpurrs thanks for that, as you have had seagrass previously did you find that it did last a long time? I have two grandchildren 7 and 4 who are not too bad but my hubby is disabled and does tend to spill things now and then and this is why he was concerned. I was thinking of the whole downstairs and heard that it was best to use the double stick method but, I would get someone in to lay it anyway.

It does last well, but it does tear, if you use wheels so no office chairs, if DH is in a wheelchair that could be a slight issue, as I dont think it would be any good for that.
Coir and sisal are longer lasting....... Coir is quite harsh and sisal is quite a bit more expensive.
