I was about to say is that possible...but then I thought...no that's being arsey...and Amos might just be being genuine.....:eek:0 -
going back to the main reason of this post...
I would speak more of spiritual 'stirring'. I used to be very worried about money. A few years ago, I read a book called My Life With No Money" or something similar, by a German lady who decided to give a go to a new way of life kicking money out of it. It worked for her. I wouldn't do the same, but it was interesting and an eye opener too. It made me think again about the real needs you have and about the meaning of your junk. Some of my personal junk I still want to keep forever, but I am less of a consumist and keep it to a minimum. And most important, I feel more relaxed about money now and therefore live happier.'They can tak' oour lives but they cannae tak' oour troousers!'The Nac Mac Feegle0 -

...which just makes me think love, it wasn't your sarcasm detector that exploded, it was your epilator when it saw the state of your facial hair.
Why can't you guys just stop winding me up because all you'll get back is own-brand finest hoodoo. I don't want to argue and I don't want to be judged, so stop pushing me to it.
Without wanting to get into anything more crappy...(lets' finish this here...this is not what this post is about...and I know I probably shoudn't be posting at all...)....
Don't post crappy obnoxious arsey posts (or posts that can be taken that way) and you won't get them back................SIMPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!0 -
It never even started here, I am 'SIMPLE'y giving what I'm getting. I already asked for this to stop but for some strange reason we're still talking about it?
Give it up already Shazeece0 -
*AHEM* let us all be sweetness and all be light. :A And please don't feed the trolls.
I find it interesting that the title of the thread is "Spiritual Awakening", and not "Religious Awakening". Spirituality comes from within, and Religion comes from outside. I think the main aim of being a DFW is watching your spending, and with that comes watching why you are spending, and with that comes a greater knowledge of yourself. Mind, body and soul.
There was a post somewhere (don't ask me to find it!) which said something like that "it was time to stop playing at life, and time to start living it".
I think that also comes with greater observation of yourself."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)
"We were born and raised in a summer haze." Adele 'Someone like you.'
"Blowing your mind, 'cause you know what you'll find, when you're looking for things in the sky." OMD 'Julia's Song'0 -

Thanks Amos - you are so right.
I think what I also want to add is that I have discovered respect - for both myself and money. I used to rush about all over the place, getting stressed, looking for things to distract myself with. I was a spendaholic and ate too much to make myself feel better. As a result I got into debt and became overweight.
Now, I am pleased to say, I take each day at a much calmer pace and try to watch my spending, thinking about the consequences of my actions a lot more and striving to find a better way of living generally.0 -
I actually today felt as though I had a real break through, since going onto living off a budget I've become really anxious around shops, wanting to spend just because the shops were there. I would go to a shop before and think "what can I buy from here" rather than going to buy what I needed. Today I went to town with DS to post some things I'd sold walked round as my DS likes to do this, adn wasn't even tempted to walk in one shop other than post office. It wasn't like I was telling myself not to I just didn't even think about it. Maybe not a spiritual moment, a breakthrough all the same!

Hi Lil
I too have had that breakthrough during the past year - I recognise the feeling about having to buy something just because it's there, it might be a bargain and convincing myself I needed it. I am proud to say that I now avoid the shops altogether and, if I do need to go into town, I can't actually be bothered to spend any more time there than I need to, just getting what I went there for.
Also, I used to spend a lot on catalogue shopping. I get a lot of junk mail as a result and catalogues are always being posted through the door. I have now got into the habit of chucking them in the bin as soon as they arrive, not even getting tempted to look at them.0 -
I don't know about a spiritual awakening - more of a wake-up call. What if the hokey cokey is what it's all about? :eek:Official "Bring back Mark and Lard NOW! or else (please)" Member 160
