Anyone Else Had A Spiritual Awakening?

As a result of your lightbulb moment, I just wondered if anyone else had experienced spiritual enlightenment.
I guess, for me, when I realised that I had spent years of over-spending which resulted in £4000 worth of debt, I was forced to take a good, hard look at myself and see why I had gone down that road. I realised that, when I had my daughter seven years ago, I went part-time but I still carried on spending as if I was earning a full-time wage. I think it was all down to loss of identity, or something like that.
I know this is all a bit deep but my lightbulb moment has made me totally reassess my life, helped me to rediscover myself and find ways of getting more meaning into my life.
I've discovered that all the material possessions I bought (but didn't really need) and the status I was seeking means nothing and now I am on a different path, a more simpler way of life, I feel happier than I've felt for years.
So, thanks to all your bits of advice on this forum - you will never know how much you are helping me on my road to recovery!!

Absolutely, I very much feel for what you've shared. I too have had a very deep spiritual awakening since my lightbulb moment, and no longer find pleasure in buying random useless consumer goods. The material lifestyle is something I have removed from my being, along with television and other unnatural sources of depression and control over my freedom.
Now I enjoy being green and working to better the things that I can, that are immediately around me.
Brightest blessings of the day to you all!0 -
I have them all the time I just don't wake up to them necessarily!:o
I tend to believe in the afterlife/psychic experiences and such.....(listening to the self) and all that......
A few things have 'happened' lately which I was convinced had actually happened...i.e. conversations etc.....seemed VERY real....well apparently they didn't....well now I'm like ...does that mean they haven't happened YET....or that I'm losing my marbles??? and given that there is a history of mental health probs in my family I am somewhat disconcerted at the mo:eek:0 -
If your family has a history of craziness I'd get it checked out ASAP matey. Everybody is saying how advanced medicines are in this field in the modern age, so please don't just ignore it go and speak to somebody who cares.

I don't know about spiritual enlightenment, but I think you might be onto something there...I know that since I realised that I needed to simply reduce my out goings to below my income that I've taken a lot more notice of the simple joys in life....Overpay!0 -
Lets see since lightbulb moment I have:
Stopped buying rubbish i dont need
Increased the time i spend on learning rather than wasting it on pointless persuits.
Kicked TV into the curb
Finally started learning tarot
In the process of setting up a business which could be described as alternative
Learned and listened to tapes regarding people skills and humanity
Meditated, although infrequently
Rid myself of a lot of negative traits (and also some people who brought these out)
the list goes on
when you realise how important money is, thats when it hits you how f****ed up the world is today.0 -
Also I wouldn't say yove reached enlightenment, you (like me) are starting along a journey more people should go through0

i wouldnt worry about these things too much. they happen to me all the time.
i wouldnt say i have spiritual awakenings, to me thats something religious and i'm not. but i do have times when i rethink all that my life is. in fact this week i've had to do it. i've been pushing myself very hard with the dfw stuff and the losing weight and everything else (i shant bore you) and i think it's started to take a toll on my health. so i've started being better to myself. if i have a money slip up rather than making myself feel guilty and miserable i just shrug and put it down to one bad day and start fresh the next day. we can't be perfect all the time can we?0 -
But hey, it's all about the journey and not the destination though!
Cool stuff dood0 -

Now obviously I posted about some of your posts giving good advice before reading this lovely post........thank you so much for your enlightened post Amos.............whilst I'm sure you would like me to give a vitriolic (that's my word for today) response.......I shall refrain0 -
I assure you there is no need, let's just stay on topic and be genuine.0
