self-employed help?

hi guys, maybe im expecting too much but i need advice, im self employed and live with my girlfriend who is self employed too, of late both our businesses have suffered mine being worse, my gf average wage is now about £200 per week mine has hit an all time low and im in trouble, ive done everything to keep things going but im really ready to call it a day! i have no debts but last week i earned £65 net and the few weeks-months before are a similar story, plus the cost of fuel i think will finish me off i will soon be in debt if this continues which to me it looks as though it will! anyhow my question is i have heard of tax credits etc but we have no children so is there anything i can claim to help my business through these times or should i just throw in the towel and sign on or look for a job? i carnt last very long at all as is ...many thanks in advance

HI
if you are over 25 and working 30 or more hours a week (not necessarily earning money being self employed or maybe your g/f is ) then you can claim working tax credits.
If your income is low, you could try to apply for council tax benefit but if you live together, both incomes will be taken into account. If you rent, you could apply for housing benefit.The Cabbage
