Sliding door for kitchen

Due to the lay out of our kitchen, it doesn't really lend itself to a conventional door. We are planning on going for a sliding door, and I'd welcome any advice people can give about what to go for.
I've read up about 'pocket' doors, which seem great (slide into what will be the stud wall), but seems very pricey. Is there a good option that is a bit more affordable. Inside the kitchen, there will be a 15-20cm gap next to the fridge freezer that would seem ideal for a door to slide into.
Anything to look for/avoid?
