It depends, there are simply too many variables to say if this is good or not, the extent of the tiling and preperation required for the same is the biggest factor.

You'll get a lot of nonsence answers by people who think they got a whole bathroom done for £150, the bottom line is do you think it's reasonable?

Are you comfortable with the guy and happy to pay that ammount, does He require a small deposit and payment on completion? (showing He's confident in his own workmanship).

My business used to install bathrooms before all the law changes made it impractical for us to continue, and average bathroom for us was in the region of £7,500 to supply and fit, a small room sometimes around the £5000 mark and we were pretty reasonable.
  • We had a quote of £1670 +vat recently to remove, supply and replace loo, sink and new towel radiator and then re-tile over the top of the bath. Believing this was astronomically high I shopped around and so far not one quote has come close. We've since had a tiler quote £225 to re do the tiling, and we'll get the plumbing done separately and I'm happy with that.

I think you know when the price is right and when it's completely wrong. He's bound to be less friendly if he thinks you might go elsewhere - doesn't mean you shouldn't anyway ...

  • Is the bathroom a like-for-like refit? If so I think this is extortionate. It should take 2 men one day (lets say 2 days for arguements sake) Even if we assume the workmen are on £200 a day each, thats only £800. You're not seriously telling me they are on £375 a day, each!?

I can;t comment on London, but the going rate here (Lancashire) for a plumber/tiler is between £80-140 a day depending on experience. I paid £250 for 2 plumbers to fit mine and it took them about 4-5 hours (although no tiling involved).
