Right. Let me break this down:
First of all "The man from the provident" is not a bailiff. A bailiff is a bailiff. A "man from the provident" might be a debt collector I suppose, but that's all. Debt collectors are not bailiffs. Debt collectors have no legal "right" to do anything except get the hell off your property the moment you tell them they are trespassing.
Secondly: Bailiffs act on warrants or orders from a court (except in a few cases that don't matter here) and their powers to seize goods, arrest people, evict people or whatever are derived from the powers conferred by the particular warrant they are executing, not from being employed as a bailiff.
Lastly: Even for bailiffs executing a warrant to seize goods, the power to actually enter property without gaining what is called "peaceful entry" (in other words to break into the property) is only granted in connection with the execution of a few types of warrants, for example those related to magistrate's court fines allow for forced entry into a property. But county court judgements (what the provident would have to get against you in order to send in bailiffs) do not allow for this under any circumstances.
I hope that clears it up.If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0 -

I dislike the Insolvenvency Helpline site completely. I think a lot of people mistake it for the official insolvency site and as you say they print bad advice.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Question on behalf of a friend which i couldnt help with as i dont have a provident loan or savings account with them.
However, apparently, an associate of provident comes to your house to collect money on a monthly basis, if you have let them in to collect money or sign paperwork on a previous occasion and then dont pay them can they break in to take goods?
Erm... NO ! - completely untrue
