Minor bump this morning - insurance question

jesus christ!! all that happened to the OP was that they clipped mirrors. It was unlucky that the other driver's mirror was broken, but there was just as much chance of the OP having the mirror smashed too.
i can't believe all this guff about getting insurance involved, do you people like giving companies the chance to get more money out of you?
the driver who suffered a broken mirror should put it down to experience and buy a new bit of glass. it doesn't cost that much, !!!!!!.
I would agree if it were my mirror that was broken, as I said earlier. I wouldn't even have exchanged details tbh.
However, it wasn't my mirror so I don't want to risk the other party putting in a claim and me not having informed my insurer iyswim?
I have no way of knowing whether she will or not and I worry about stuff like this.
So I agree it's not ideal but for me it seems the best option.
I'll just deal with what happens as it happens I guess but I feel happier knowing where I am.
Takes all sorts and all that!
BTW, the mirror part was intact - it was the casing at the back that was broken. I don't know if that makes a difference or not. I know my ex just got one from a scrapyard for £12 if I remember rightly when someone knocked ours while it was parked a few years back. Goodness only knows what a main dealer would charge for the same thing!0
