XBOX 360 ELite , noisy?

hi

my son brought an xbox 360 elite on saturday, i think its v noisy, its the fan constantly whirring , i think its too noisy but son says its ok.

i know the fan does go constantly but should it be noisy?

The terrible thing is I didnt buy it for the performance, I bought the elite instead of the other because the elite was black and at that time you could only get the elite one in black.

You can save games to the Hard Drive so it is quieter.

Pop the Disc in, from the Home Screen I think you Press the Yellow Button, then follow the instructions.

You will still need to the disc in to play it though (Anti Piracy measure you see)

davetrousers is correct, it's more than likely the DVD drive making the noise rather than the fans which is why Microsoft introduced the ability to install games to the hard drive.

thanks for your replies, i'll tell him to install to harddrive if no difference i think i'll take it back to the shop.

what? all 360's are noisy compared to other consoles. you do get used to it though.

the newer elites are a good bit quieter now,noisier than a PS3 but shouldnt be that noisy all the time
if its the DVD drive you are hearing then as said adding to the HD makes a difference

if its the hoover sound then it isnt the dvd drive is it?

yeah most likely,you will hear it pick up as the disc spins up

the cooling fan starts speeding up when a disc is put into the system so its the cooling fan that is making the noise not the drive surely.
