why on earth did he sign off JSA to 'help his friend'? didnt the friend pay him? surely he must have paid something or else he wouldnt have signed off and lost JSA.
his first commitment is to his child.0 -
Has he finished working for his friend? If so he will need to sign back on again - the CSA don't tend to take action against those who are on benefits. Did he notify them as soon as he became unemployed? if not, they can only take into account info they were given from when they were given it. If he was on benefits and came off again, but didn't tell them until after he was off again, it is too late to have it taken into account and his liability will still be ongoing and racking up more arrears. If he is still working for his friend, he needs to tell the CSA what his income is so that they can do an up to date assessment to prevent arrears building up even more.0

Been through the mill with the CSA myself and I thought they did the liability order before they send the bailiffs out??
We were only told this after several calls tot hem and finally had someon listen to our side who was very helpful and told us we could pay the debt off over a 2 year payment plan without paying interest, which is what we are doing, regardless of not agreeing with the way it's worked out!!
I'd get in touch with them again and fight your corner0 -
If possible I would look at when the decision was made, you from there on have 13 months to appeal the decision.
Request your Data Protection File (NACSA have a template on their website), it will cost £10 but can usually be a good tool in your fight against the CSA.
Once an appeal has been lodged, CSA Appeals Dept will look again at the decision/calculation and any associated arrears, if they feel they cannot/will not change the decision in your favour, you then can proceed to Independent Tribunal for a hearing, whereby a lot more delving and evidence can be produced.
As for enforcement, we know from experience their bully tactics, but if you can prove the assessment is incorrect go for an appeal. Send recorded delivery of course, copy all correspondence, and print off Royal Mail signature/barcode as proof they received it.0 -
Sorry, I did chuckle a little!!
I know £2000 arrears is a lot of money, but my incorrect arrears is 34k, - now that's a lot of money!!!!!!!!!!!!
They are totally inefficient as an organisation - which is what makes them more dangerous.0
