Who owns the HIP Pack??

Hi Everybody :hello:

I'm in the process of 'hopefully' putting my house on the market in the next few weeks, but instead of going through an EA (to cut back on expenses) we have decided to do it ourselfs for the first month!!

One question I cant find the answer to is... when I purchase my HIP pack who owns it????

We are getting an independent body to do it for us as its about £100 cheaper then the EA.

Will they or us own it???

Cheers Katy xoxo

You will own it, if you pay for it it's all yours.

If a separate provider arranges it then, once you have paid for it, it is yours.

I've gone ahead with the independent body doing our HIP yesterday afternoon around 1pm and just after 4pm I got an email with almost the whole thing done!!! I've submitted my PIQ and all thats left for them to do is...

    1. To get the Energy Performance Certificate

    2. To do a Personal Residential Local Authority Search - Including Search Indemnity Insurance

    3. To do a Personal Residential Drainage & Water Search - Including Search Indemnity Insurance

I thought it would take a few days for all this information to be put together!?!? Why then when I initially phoned them and asked how long it would take for me to have the HIP they said 2/3 weeks???

they certainly know how to earn their pennies IYKWIM!!!!

It isn't the HIP provider that spends that amount of time - it is how long they often have to wait to get an appointment at the Council offices to get the information for the search! Different councils have different lead times.

    Hi Suzanne

I did a search online for HIP providers and on MSE search 'HIP' on forums theres loads of info. You can get them pretty cheap online but you never know what your getting IYKWIM!!
The company I've gone with is called PALI (I got their numbers etc from hip-view website) go onto their website and see if there is one near you.

    Good luck
