claire...they're books...I want them...I love books, the smell and feel of a new book, of opening the cover and knowing you're the first person to read it...i think its a fetish

Conrad is challenging - I think it helps if you read a bit about the colonization of the Congo by the Belgians before reading him. It's truly stomach turning, horrible stuff (approx. 10m Congolese killed or worked to death), but if you can read up a bit it gives you perspective on what he's writing. Heart of Darkness is about someone allowing themselves to be seduced by all the horrible things around them without questioning it - but of course if you don't know much about the history, its all an old bore going on about not much interesting! Read it and re-watch Appocolypse Now, IMHO the best transition from book to film in history.

Can you tell I'd rather be studying literature, any day of the week :-)

PM me how I can get you the Scarlett Letter, its really small and I bought it used (in Cambodia!) so happy to send it along.

I am definitely less swollen but now having a peeling/flaky look around one eye and across the chin (flaking in other places too but the ones described are worst). I still have swelling around both eyes and have a red all over effect (hence their confusion about how I got so sunburnt over the weekend).

But thanks Beanie, it is definitely improving. I was brave and applied it again last night (or stupid). I'm just desperate to have better skin.

I did look at the cheapie bio oil in Aldi - rang Bookworm and got her to google bio oil ingredients. They are similar but not quite the same so I thought maybe I should just use my boots points or something and get the proper one? If I really want good skin why risk buying cheaper oil if it might not work?

claire - too busy with work and too far to get back for an appt (left before 7 arrived home a bit after the other 7). To be fair I didn't have this much discomfort before but I think I washed it off badly the other day by washing it around my face. Perhaps coz it is the third or 4th tube I was not being cautious enough? I forgot how many flannels it has bleached just washing it off 12+hrs after applying it. I should have thought it is clearly highly hazardous.
