car hire for discharged BR with no Credit Card

Hello All,,

I need to hire a car this weekend,, I'm recently discharged..

Does anyone know who I can hire from who will accept discharged BR's on their insurance, also I have no credit card so they would need to accept my Maestro Bank Card...

Is this going to be possible for me??

Thanks

Without some sort of CC you will find it quite difficult to find car hire.

Im afraid dojoman is correct. You either have to have a credit card or put down a large deposit in cash and then only a small majority might accept this, I had no luck funding one.

We wanted to hire a van for moving house, in the end I had to get my dad to do it all.
  • If you have a Cashplus Gold pre pay credit card then you can activate it so you can hire vehicles.

U-drive will let you hire a car without a credit card and they don't ask for a large deposit - we hired a car and van from them when we were still br and just had a co-op electron card! And no cash deposit just had to have enough in the bank to cover deposit and this was released once we returned car/van.

Sorry I thought they were nationwide but they appear only to be in the south-east/west!

I'm still BR and have hired a car a few times through Enterprise.

They have really good weekend rates, but they do want a £200 deposit.

its changed a little now....they (cashplus) will ask for a few months spending/deposit history before they consider switching on the "car hire" bit...and then you have to phone them to go through a series of questions as well...daft stupid rule IMHO

    Thanks everyone for the replies,
This turned out easier than I thought - I've just booked one from Practical Car Hire - no deposit, and have used my debit card from Think Banking to pay... I thought it was going to be impossible..

I'm renting a car from Enterprise at the moment and I paid the charge and £100 deposit using my Barclays Visa Debit card - no problem at all.
