I`m selling a 3 piece suite on collection only.
Somone asked if they could arrange a courier to collect it - I said i`d think about it, then got back to them this morning and said that after consideration I would not be covered under paypal seller protection and would not be willing to package it, So I would have to decline.
Even after this email, they have begun bidding on my item anyway.
What should I do about - they have 326 100% feedback, so there not stupid.. there just being awkward.
What should I do about them?

Why would you not be covered by PAYPAL ...if they paid prior to collection ?? Also if you were not prepared to pakage it then that is up to them ?? I agree also with above ... they might like it so much they have decided to hire a van and come and get it. I dont think they are being awkward ....I have had brain surgery - sorry if I am a little confused sometimes

Possibly, but they live approx 200 miles away from me and for the hire of a van and petrol it wouldn`t be worth it, they`ve already said they don`t want to hire a van !!Debt Free Jan 2010!(Be happy) the state of your life is nothing more than the state of your mind! X:j0 -
To be covered by Paypal your goods have to be sent by "trackable means that can be verified online" A courier would cover this.
However if she picks it up there is no tracking. The buyer could come and collect it after paying you via Paypal, then claim you never sent the suite.
I doubt that she would do that though for a suite. You could ask here to pay you in cash if she is comming to collect it I supposeIf freedom is outlawed, only outlaws will have freedom.0 -

You have to have proof of delivery, and as she is arranging a courier to collect it from her end, then she will have the proof, not me !
Just covering all the angles as i`ve been stung twice on paypal now and am damned if it`s going to happen again - especially as this item is £450.Debt Free Jan 2010!(Be happy) the state of your life is nothing more than the state of your mind! X:j0 -
Do not take paypal on an item that is to be collected, it is asking for trouble.
Close the auction and relist as cash on collection. You can always ask for a deposit by bank transfer in advance if you are worried about a no show buyer. However, under no circumstances accept paypal, not even for a deposit.
Paypal require online trackable methods of delivery and only the ones shown here:

I think that what soolin has said is the best option here. As you say and I didn't think about, is the fact that she will have proof of delivery, tracking etc as she is arranging the courier. If freedom is outlawed, only outlaws will have freedom.0

I have a large item for sale on ebay at the moment on pick up only.
I have stated that it is a CASH ONLY auction and have offered both my mobile and home number to winning bidder so they can arrange pick up. Theres no way I would use Paypal on this sale and anyway, for higher prices items the charges are higher so Cash is easier all around.

Thanks..I did not know that re paypal on collection items! I am just too trusting! Of course...they could always pay with fake £10 notes ....:rolleyes:I have had brain surgery - sorry if I am a little confused sometimes

I had a £10 note. (yay me!) The strip was faint, the hologram was dull, the print detail was fuzzy. I couldn't feel the raised lettering.
I took it to the bank. They took one glance at it, through the glass, and told me it was genuine. Absolutely no question.
I figure if I was that worried about a genuine note (a not very well produced one) then a fake would stand out a mile. Apparently it's all about the feel of the paper... and if you can tell a fake from a real note by glancing at it from one metre away, the fakes must look WELL ropey. My TV is broken!
