i run a garden and the school have bought a patio pear tree :Tnow it arrived in a very small pot :(and recommended that it be re-potted asap but it has now flowered :)can it be re-potted or should we wait

Yes. Choose your bigger pot and just add the soil round the existing root ball and keep well watered.0
