Solicitor fees

I was awarded compensation from my employer for a work related incident. I was awarded through a solicitor who took it on no win no fee. There charges was 35% of the total awarded. In the contract to me it says:

"My estimate of the total costs which I will incur on your behalf is 35% of the amount awarded by the way of compensation including VAT and disbursements".

When I was given my compensation they took off the 35% of which I understand but on top of that they took of the VAT. Is this right as in the contract it stated inclusive of VAT.,

I think you should call the solicitor and remind him that the contract states the costs were inclusive of vat and that they had made a mistake.

The solicitor cannot change the terms once the cfa was signed.

Don't give in if they get awkward, if the original quote was vat inclusive you are in your rights to stick to it. Also don't be scared or worried about asking the questions, mistakes do happen so they should correct it quickly.

I know what I am talking about, I worked for a solicitor for many years.

Check contract carefully but if what you say is right, then a mistake has happened.
