Find me in Menorca

Hi
Hope this post is on the correct forum.
Has anybody heard of "Find me in Menorca" company? A few weeks ago, we had a phone call from this company, saying that we had won a competition that we had entered, well DH had apparently, for a week's stay at one of their properties for 4 people, we could pay a registration fee of £99 and pay for our flights, as long as we went to a 90min presentation about buying - yes you've guessed it a timeshare property. This is valid for 18 months.
Anyway, cut a long story short, £99 was very quickly taken from our account, as hubby said yes.
I researched their properties and found that we wouldn't go to any of these properties on a holiday anyway.
I emailed and asked for a full refund as we did not want to take them upon their offer. I was emailed back stating that under their terms and conditions, as its valid for 18 months we can't get a refund. Is this legal? As they stated, we must be able to find time for a week during this 18 month period.
Has anybody got any advice as to what we should do now?
Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

Have they sent you anything via the post/email at all, or has it all been done via the telephone? Have you signed anything? And do you have you been emailed/sent any terms and conditions reguarding this deal?LBM: July 09

The usual timeshare scam. You've lost your £99, sorry.

As Robert 2009 says you have lost your money,no matter what you say to them the 99 won't get refunded they are just con merchants.personally I would put it down to experience and not believe the "you entered competition line" and definatly not give out bank details in future.0

Yes we did get an email with terms and conditions, but we have not signed anything.
Surely there must be some law that protects gullible people like my husband.

Thanks Rob for your reply. It just annoys me that people can get away with this sort of thing. I know that it is only £99 - but it is still alot of money. Cheers:beer:Robert2009 wrote: »The usual timeshare scam. You've lost your £99, sorry.

Thanks Jonnyroper for your advice. As I've stated earlier, it annoys me that these so called companies can get away with things like this. I feel like taking them on for this deception, as there must be more gullible / naive people like us, who have been taken in. It is the principle of the thing that annoys me.johnnyroper wrote: »As Robert 2009 says you have lost your money,no matter what you say to them the 99 won't get refunded they are just con merchants.personally I would put it down to experience and not believe the "you entered competition line" and definatly not give out bank details in future.

sorry dont understand why you say you have been riped off
your husband paid them giving his card detalels
they are not saying you carnt have a holiday
you just changed your minde.
i dont see how you have been riped off.
i do see you have riped off your self
sorry no simpathy from me next time look at the product first
if you dont want it say no they are at the other end of a phone
if you are that gulible that you carnt say no just put the phone down.
i went on one of these holidays a few years ago not with this company to be fair and ok i had to listen to a sales man for a few hours but had a good holiday resourt was good it was with club la costa.0 -
As far as im concerned it is a rip off. They lie and say you have won a competition, ok you could say you should know if you entered but a lot of people enter tens of comps every day.
Colin12 would you hold the same opinion if a vulnerable member of your family answered the door to a con artist claimng to be a gasman for example and conned them into thinking they needed work done and took money? You could say the same, they could have just said no.Everyone who thanks me when ive helped will get a 5% share when I win this weeks Euromillions......:p0 -
Sorry marluc there is a difrence beetween a guy nocking on your door.
i have heard of this company and if you google them there are that i can find 2 people making the same complaint but a lot of people that dont seem to even have been contacted by them or been on a holiday with them pasing jugement you english are very quick to condem with no proof.
there is allways to sides to a story. if you buy somthing from the internet
like clothes they will not refund your money but hopfuly change it if it has a fault but if you just change your minde quite rightly they will not
these guys have just changed there mindes if you look on the net every one seems to get there holidays with this typ of company.
and seem to injoy it.
i also see if anyone is posative about you all asume they work for the companys or in the indastry you are complaining about.
these people have the
nolige to use the internet come on this site so they carnt be that dume
just throwing there toys out the pram as they dident get there own way
if the company will not honure this holiday then they have been riped off
but i dont think this is the kase.
Sadeelisha have you been contacted by this company if not then how can you say they say the things
you say they say0
