Gates and Fencing

To remove existing fencing and double gates, and replace with 4 panels and a single wooden gate. £1765 plus vat. Surrey area. I think this is excessive. What do you think?

Depends very much on the fence.

One of those overlapping panels costs about £25 retail. A fence post about £10. Gates cost as much as you're willing to spend. But maybe you've gone for a higher spec?

The panels were about 30 pound each, the gate I think £87. I don't know about the posts as I only picked panels and gate.

we cant answer cause we are still in shock at how expensive that quote is.

Just as I was. We moved into the house not too long ago so there are still jobs to do inside the house, so to spend 2k outside is not really what I had in mind at this stage.

wood came to about £600

includes

26m of 6ft
posts and rails for 26m

19m of 3ft
posts and rails for 19m

built it with boards spread about 5mm apart.. high privacy

we are building our own gates front and back

so yours seems pretty excessive. i know we done it ourselves. so far its took about 10 hours .
