Just go with tie, white shirt, black trousers, black shoes. Can't go wrong and makes an impression.

Its a call centre so it may well be jeans, Just dont want to risk setting a bad impression on the first day
Well in that case wear jeans gradually even on the second day after you've seen how the others are dressed.

On the first day, stick to smart shoes, shirt and trousers. icon14.gif

Absolutely. Plenty of people wear jeans where I work. I certainly do unless doing something that day which requires more formal wear, then I wear a suit.

Absolutely. Like I say you can start a bit too smart and then 'dress down' to the right level with a lot less loss of face than you can by not being quite right and having to "dress up".

Good luck with your new job!

In that case, I suspect the chances are it's going to be Jeans + T-Shirt, I used to work in a call centre. I went back to see some old work colleagues and found they were all wearing casual clothing (normally for a Friday). I was informed the laws had been changed that non customer-facing environments (i.e call centres) could wear casual dress because nobody is seeing them

I agree this would differ from place to place, depending if they had clients, but I'd agree with that rule since people in call centres just answer phones

HOWEVER, as stated. Go smart the first day (shirt + tie is fine) as it's considered normal office attire. Then ask when you do your induction or when you're training

Always start with a good impression and always leave with one. I've always worked by that ethos and it's done me good so far.

When I used to work in offices with a dress down Friday (and weekends to those places that opened on weekends) we weren't allowed to wear jeans, hoddies, trackky bums or trainers Mon-Thurs.

I just wore a collared shirt with some trousers - maybe a thin black jumper in the winter on Mon-Thursday
