Is there anyway to classify a smart/casual dress code? Am I right in thinking it could be smart jeans with a smart t-shirt/long sleeved top? Any input would be great.
Thanks

I am an OAP and I never consider jeans as smart.
But that is just me.

Smart casual dress code is smart trousers (not jeans) with a shirt with no tie for men and a smart top and cardigan for women, both with smart shoes.
Anything less is too casual and should be saved for dress-down days,0 -
"Dress policy is smart/casual, clothing is an individual thing, and we know that sometimes people have varying levels of interpretation of casual dress."
Thats from the thing I got sent out, Was just told no ripped jeans/rugby and football tops and anything revealing.0 -
When in doubt, be more smart than casual.0

Where I worked....
Smart/Casual was classed as Shirt (no tie) + Trousers
Smart/Casual (dress down) was more of a case of Jeans + T-Shirt
Basically it's an office dress code without the "formality" (suits, ties, etc) simple clothing what makes you look smart and gives the appearance of professionalism without going OTT in terms of Office dressOwner of andrewhope.co.uk, hate cars and love them

Jeans will rarely be considered acceptable
Most employers would expect;
Shoes
Trousers
Shirt/Jumper/Smart collared top0 -
Thanks for all the replies, Dont really want to risk it, Think I'l go with more smart than casual0

Just found it conflicting when they said people have their own interpretation of casual dress and to use common sense, no harm in wearing a shirt and trousers0

I would never take smart casual to mean jeans or a t-shirt - this is casual wear.0 -
Also where I worked for smart/casual
They allowed polo tops as long as it had a SMALL logo, but it varies at each place. As stated if in doubt dress smart, it's easier getting help with a good impression than after a negative oneOwner of andrewhope.co.uk, hate cars and love them
