Getting beyond stressed with accounts..

Ok i do wonder why i have numerous jobs as when the poo hits the fan and the one day i need some money nothing goes right.

I am VERY rarely in my overdraft but at the mo only have my part time jobs to cover me so can't go mad as such. Dh pays me an amount each week and every week/month is fine..till last night.

I checked my husbands account online as we were buying dd's new bed..good job as i did as noticed some strange purchases and we ended up calling the fraud hotline..that is going through but the account has been frozen/stopped. I then checked mine..£475 overdrawn..tried to transfer some money from a savings account and it wouldn't let me as its a B/H grr no chance of me buying it so forgot that for then.

Earlier today I thought despite the bed issue ide better check the bills side of it and to my horror i checked and £450 is due out today..with a £700 limit it takes me even over that and started to panic..tried transferring some money again and computer says no.

We have just sat down and tried to transfer some from dh's account..it has come up with unable to transfer due to some pin system? (Barclays)..no idea what that means and have given up the will to live tbh. Checked mine again just now and the bills appear to have come out..not sure how as a B/H? I guess that is the good news!

So mine is now very high but can move some across tomorrow to sort that out..dh's is stuck as in his old name..after years of nagging he finally understands now if there is a prob it's quite a pain..being in his old name he has no id so doubt going to the bank tom is any good...sigh..guess we count his account as useless which is great as he has all the money.

So question after my ranting is why can i not transfer money today but the bills can come out?..i guess i should be thankful the amount is overdrawn with bills out and not after or i think id'e cry.

The ironic thing is in 2 weeks when i get my new job we will be on the stupidist amount of money per week this should be the last time we have to worry..everything happens at once doesnt it..grrr..when all this is sorted i'm stuffing it all under the mattress!

Sorry for the rant i just hate online baking right now..no help at all.

  • If you've disputed transactions with the bank they don't necessarily get refunded immediately - it can take time. For instance, if they're debit card transactions you might have to fill in a form to perform a chargeback and wait for the money.

Looks as though your bank has paid your bill debits for you, even though it takes you beyond your limit: when the fraudulent transactions are removed you may need to contact the bank again if they apply charges for your exceeded OD since that wasn't your fault. Perhaps they marked the fraudulent ones as disputed meaning they were able to pay your bills.

As far as bills coming out at weekends are concerned, it used to be the case that direct debits in particular could not be debited on weekends or public holidays but had to be debited just after. However that protection went a while back. Now, as long as the payee informs you of the debit date, it can indeed be on a weekend.
