What do you think of this? a buyer jus sent it to me, think this is dodgy? In the payment field i stated paypal please as method of payment. He says "there is something wrong with my paypal account, says there is a payment due and wnt let mw pay until the other 1 is cleared. would you accept cheque? or sum sort or bank transfer if you give me your sort code and account number i can transfer it straight away."

If you only accept paypal, you don't have to take payment any other way.
It's your call whether you wait for him to sort out his problems, offer him another method, or get tough.
May be dodgy, may not.
A bank transfer is very safe for you, quick, and FREE.My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -

I am personally extremely reluctant to give out my bank account and sort code to people I don't know! Might just be me though!

I automatically put my bank details in my end of auction emails with the folorn hope that someone will choose to pay by bank transfer and save me the paypal fees. As a seller bank transfers are wonderful, fairly quick, free and as far as I have ascertained irreversable.
Also, you give out less details that you do with a cheque, and of course when you give someone a cheque you are giving them a copy of your signature as well

Offer of a bank transfer...WHOOPEE!!!
Accept with alacrity!0 -
Accept the bank transfer. They can't reverse it at all (I believe) so I can't see what's dodgy about the buyer
