has anyone here ever paid for hotel transfers but had to confirm by phone that they still want to be picked up and taken to the airport?

every time we've gone on holiday over the last 5 years, it's how they usually work if you have booked your flights/hotel accommodation independently.

It should say somewhere on the original paperwork who and when to contact. I have to say that sometimes the return instructions aren't massively clear on the paperwork (I've used a few companies over the years), but there will be a number you call approx 24 hours beforehand, give your details and you are told a time and location for pick up. Have also done it by logging into a website once and as we're going to Mallorca and using Resorthoppa when we go next week (they are based there I think) they will send me a text the day before we leave rather than me having to call them.

No I've scoured the paperwork time and time again and it definitely does not say anywhere that we had to confirm the transfer. If I had missed the information I would have let the matter drop.
The whole holiday package was booked through a travel agent who I paid. What they then did was book our transfers and accommodation with hotels4u.

Sounds like you weren't given your transfer voucher (or the details about the returns part) by the travel agent, who I guess would be liable for providing the information you needed. Which transfer company was it?

We booked the holiday with R-Travel in Perth.
Hotels4u provided the accommodation, transfers and the transfer voucher which I have in front of me.
Viajes Magon were the Spanish coach operator.

I really didn't expect all this hassle in getting a refund. I honestly believed it was a genuine mistake that we weren't given the information.
Realistically what are my chances of getting my taxi fare refunded because this has dragged on for so long and I'm spending a lot of time writing letters?
I feel loathe to give up because I know that the mistake was not ours.

looks like transfers4u are the transfer arm of hotels4u from googling.

Here's their phone numbers if that's any help
    http://www.transfers4u.com/contactus.aspx

    hotel4u/transfers4u booking conditions

Seems they are part of the thomas cook group now and here are their resort transfer instructions

I guess it is down to hotels4u (or the transfer arm) to have given you the correct information on the voucher or R-Travel to have printed it all off correctly in the first place. All these companies these days are a real tangle of agents/sister companies etc, hard to pinpoint where the issue will lie.

Did they email it to you or was it printed by the travel agent?

Have just checked an old transfer from Travel Republic - all the times and locations are on page one, the bit about confirming the pick-up is on page two. Don't know if Hotels4U have a similar format, but if they do and the TA only printed part of the voucher, I'd be taking it up with the TA.

this is what I was thinking ManAtHome, I've used a few transfer companies and the return stuff is always on page 2.
