I cant help much, so am going to bump this back up with this ;)

Have you spoken to Citizens advice? Surely being in possesion of both bike and garantee should be enough!

Good luck :) Hope your son is recovering well.

I think Sterling House are dreadful.

My son was given one of their bikes: when it arrived I did not consider it "fit for purpose" and contacted them to return it, and they indicated that the charge for sending it back would be greater than the amount they would refund. They suggested that I sell it second-hand, and offered a discount if I were to buy another bike from them! I wrote complaining, but they did not reply.

In your case, the injury to your son is clearly the most important aspect of the situation. And bikes that fail in that way can and do kill people, so he had a (relatively) lucky escape. I would urge you to contact Trading Standards, since this company should not be allowed to sell unsafe products.

After an experience like that, I would not allow my son to ride another of their bikes even if they paid me to take it!
