Recommendations for pram sun shade

I was just about to buy a parasol for our pram but have read loads of reviews about how rubbish they are (don't really know anyone in real life who has used one so not sure if this is fair or not). Bubs is due in next couple of weeks so want to get something that fits the carrycot, not sure if all do, lots I've looked at seem to just be for buggies.
My sister recommended a canopy but the only ones I've found are not made from UPF material. I'm very pale and so paranoid about the sun, so need to buy something that does have UPF protection.
I've seen the dark mesh type ones as well and not sure they look great unless the baby is sleeping, I'd rather have something that extends the pram hood if that makes sense.
I'd really welcome any recommendations, like I say I am SO paranoid about the sun, but want to get out of the house if I can and not worry unnecessarily!

UPF 50+ Boots stock that one too, so you can go there and see if it fits first.0 -

Like the look of both of those, any idea if they fit a carrycot too? (pics are just of buggies). If not will take your advice and go to boots to check.

I use a Brio parasol on my Maclaren XLR and it works great. I hated the canopies. I also have a moutain buggy and I'm getting the black mesh one that covers the whole thing. The Shade A Babe thing isn't really adjustable so you will still have to shade her if the sun is coming in front.
I don't care what they look like as long as they protect my baby.0 -
Sorry if not clear - don't care what they look like, I meant wasn't sure about the full mesh shades as they seem to be a better option for when the baby is sleeping as they won't be able to see as much when awake.
I'm confused, I probably need to try some out but feeling very heavy and not fancying going out much!

I think some are just made cheaply and that's why they don't work so well. I get what you mean now on the full shades.
Once you're feel'n up to it, go to some of the better shops and you'll see the parasols up close and can see how they are made. You really want something that you can adjust to where the sun is hitting on the seat.0 -

Yep it's the adjustment that's important isn't it. Might go one day this week if I can get myself organised!

I got fed up of adjusting the sunshade whenever we changed direction when out with my daughter.
Instead I used a blanket draped over the hood to block out all of the sun, then opened up the back to let the air in and so I could see and talk to bubs! (it was a big mothercare lie back pushchair, almost like a pram!)
It only works when they are tiny and asleep but better than a fiddly parasol! When she was older I used it folded on the top of the buggy hood to give a bit of extra shade.:hello: Hiya, I'm single mom, avid moneysaver and freecycler, sometimes  but definatly
