Hi,
So a a friend of mine is on housing benefits and recently her house has been infested by bed bugs. They tried everything but nothing worked so the only option is to call in the professionals. She spoke to them and they said that they'll charge £100 for it.
So since she is on housing benefits, is the landlord oblidged to pay for it or does she have to do it herself? This is because the council guys said they wont pay for it.
Thanks.

We had the same problem when we moved into a new flat and they said that it was because rats/mice/other vermin are more likely to be present due to outside conditions but bed bugs are caused by uncleanliness!! In the end the letting agent paid because we discovered them on our first day in the flat so certainly weren't caused by us!! Got a nice new matress out of it too

I used the councils services to treat an infestation.
At the time, I was in receipt of a means tested benefit, so I had a reduction in the cost of 50%.
With bed bugs, it's not just bedding, but they can infest everywhere, even behind the wallpaper.
No wonder they can be so hard to eliminate.
I hope you get it sorted.
