grrr sky
have 2 sky+ boxes with a multiroom sub.
bought sky hd (free bos, install and £10 a month...) and bought a freesat card for the spare box and told them was moving it to another room in the house.
didnt realise that it would be beyond me to install it, and had a problem with the new box, so they offered to come out fix new box and install box as we had a breakdown in communications. so - ok i thought.
tech came out and fixed the hd box and refused to install the 3rd box as he was not covered to go onto the roof to access the dish. ok- getting a bit grumpy at this point... but...
so phoned and rebooked again(!) for 2 days later, then got a call saying 'we have already told you that we cant do it - why have you booked us again?'.... oh said 'dont havea go at me, my wife booked it with your company!' (so am a bit more annoyed now.... no call for rudeness....)
so we REBOOK again.... and that was for this morning, 1.30pm... no techs, no call..... so i phone them up and 'oh we've had to cancel all the apts in your area, they are calling round now....
so that was a bank holiday out with the family we have missed out on (we have annual passes and would have gone out today if we had known that the techs werent coming)
we have been offered £5 a month off our multiroom subscription, until we change our package (so if we upgrade we lose it....)

Sky man did turn up to ours today - but didn't do anything! Apparently fitting sky into a central room in a bungalow falls into the "too difficult" category!

Sky installer are not allowed to go onto the roofs or higher than a standard 2-up 2-down house anymore. For those jobs a 'Special Heights' team are required however in 90% of cases,a outside contractor (ie,non Sky but working for them) has to be used.
As for going sick,we we are human & do get ill.It may be because he has gone sick, the is'nt enough manpower to take on any extra work (ie-yours)
Mind you,as it's a Public Holiday today,anyone phoneing in sick today would be a bit,shall we say,suspicious.
As for fitting the third box (free to air one) I doubt Sky would do it anyway as they are'nt going to make any money off it in subsequent months.0 -

firstly - they should not have messed up the last 2 apts... its not acceptable to call someone at 2pm to say they will not be attending that morning..... thats virtually the whole day gone. they were installing it foc as they had made an error, now they are making more errors. dont make apts that you're not going to keep.... and this is not 'extra' work - this is a 2 person job that was scheduled.Willow: I knew it, I knew it, well not in the sense of having the slightest idea, but I knew there was something I didn't know!0 -

Hey,dont go off on one at me! I was offering my opinion as an ex Sky engineer. The are things that can go wrong when you are on a job.I got a call on one of my job's telling me a close relative had just died.it happens.
I gave a reason as to why they may not have been able to come out to you,the may not have been enough spare crews in your area,
Obviously you expect everyone to just drop everything & rush around to pander to you.So what if Mr X does'nt get installed as Mr Y phoned in & demanded he gets installed this instant.
And before you ask, yes,I have taken unpaid time off work to wait in for an engineer who did'nt turn up.
And Sky dont have many two man crews, only the Special Heights crews are two man!0 -

no - i expect when a THIRD apt is made that they make more effort to keep it, and also - my apt was for the morning, not the afternoon, not at 2pm.... why didnt i get a phonecall in the morning to say they werent coming? they would have known before 2pm that they werent coming, why did i have to phone at 1.30pm to ask where they were?
i'm not being unreasonable, and yes i have been sick before - but i do not believe that they were sick as i didnt even get a call the night before like you normally do.Willow: I knew it, I knew it, well not in the sense of having the slightest idea, but I knew there was something I didn't know!0 -
so the sky engineer calls up the night before the next scheduled visit and grunts at my husband 'are you alright for tomorrow?' my husband asked who it was as had no idea, 'are you alright for tomorrow?' he repeats, eventually the guy hangs up, not stating where he was calling from, then he calls back, calls my husband 'a right divvy...'
for gods sake.... this is the 4th attempt? they were suposed to be here this morning, so i call them at 11.30 to check they were still coming, - they will be with you at 1.15....???? morning? phoned them again at 2.20... they'll be with you at 3.15..... (husband has gone out as he does not want to see the engineer.....) nice one sky...
am still on phone
(and my cat got hit by a car today and its touch and go if hes going to live, so stress i could do without,....)Willow: I knew it, I knew it, well not in the sense of having the slightest idea, but I knew there was something I didn't know!0 -
I can almost understand the first instances but for the Sky guy to be abusive, I would refuse that git into the house, never know what he may do!
Make an official complaint against the sky installer (may be a subby).
well its been raised to his manager.... it 5.55pm and he is still not here - i dont know what time they stop working....Willow: I knew it, I knew it, well not in the sense of having the slightest idea, but I knew there was something I didn't know!0 -
