new electric meter
Scottish Gas are coming in a couple of weeks to change my electric meter which is very noisy. The woman on the phone said it would replaced "like for like". Does anyone know if this means they will automaticaly replace it with an old fashioned dial meter, like we currently have, or will I get a nice shiny digital (and hopefully quieter) one?

All electrical meters fitted now have a digital display and not the old dial type.0

You may get a mechanical meter fitted - but it won;t be a dial one.
Some modern meters are mechanically operated, not digitally. The modern mechanical ones are actually easier to read than the digital ones (they are not susceptible to glare)0 -
Scottish Gas fit digital meters, so you should get some peace and quiet once the old clunker has gone.0
