Hi,
Firstly, standard warranties only last 1 year, 14 months will obviously be slightly over.
Not unless Dell have a longer warranty period.
Unfortunately, this wouldnt really be covered by SOGA.....
You'll need to find out what is causing the error and get it fixed at your own cost.0 -
any one else have any opinions?
i thought it would be covered by sog0 -
OP, the SOGA would apply but as you've owned the laptop longer than 6 months the onus is up to you to prove that the issue is down to an inherent manufacturing fault. To do this you would normally be expected to provide an independant report to diagnose the fault. If you can do this sucessfully you would be entitled to the remedies under the SOGA, ie, repair, replacement or partial refund.0

TBH I've always found Dell pretty good.
Have you contacted them? if you go to the Dell UK site you can send them an email. You will need your Service Tag which is on a panel on the base of the laptop. Tech Support will probably call and try to sort it, If not and the HD is faulty they should replace it.
My HD and other hardware is under warranty for 3 years but I purchased it thorugh an 'employee incenetive scheme' at my place of work. If they try to say it is out of guarantee, I think you would have a very good argument under the SOG as you would reasonably expect a HD to last longer than 14 months.....unless of course it is something you have caused yourself!!!!Justice will not be served until those who are unaffected are as outraged as those affected (Benjamin Franklin) JFT96...YNWA0 -
Yeah, try Dell - I've successfully managed to get them to repair products outside the year's guarantee.
"Date of purchase? Um, yeah, that was within the last year..."Squirrel!If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
Now 20% cooler0
